Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is an effective and cutting-edge treatment for acne scars, prior skin injury, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, large pores, uneven skin texture irregularities, and it even helps to decrease the appearance of stretch marks. The procedure involves drawing a tube of ones own blood, followed by in-office centrifuge to separate the platelet rich plasma from the other components of the blood. Subsequently, microneedling is performed via the industry leading SkinPen to create tiny holes in the skin’s surface, allowing for PRP to penetrate to the level where collagen and elastin can be enhanced. The procedure is very well tolerated and results are generally seen in a few weeks depending on the condition and depending on the number of treatments. Depending on the condition being treated, two to three sessions may be necessary to improve mild texture changes of the skin, whereas more significant scarring may require three to six treatments to appreciate noticeable change. These multiple treatments are done four weeks apart to allow the skin to heal.
